Confessions of an HPT Junkie

Oh, bloggy peeps, I did something bad. I took that FRER out of its cellophane-encased box and I peed on it. Yes, at 6dpo. And, not surprisingly given that I took 2 Ovidrel shots a mere 8 days ago, it was positive. Now I seem to be left with two choices: (1) either pee on sticks daily from now on to see if (a) the line becomes darker or (b) goes away or (2) wait until beta day to test.

Why do I get myself into these sorts of quandaries?

  1. Hi, I sooo understand your feeling, well maybe not exactly because I've never gotten a positive for any reason, but having done several attempts I do understand the 2ww and wanting/needing to know. i know it's probably not possible, but any chance of pampering and distracting yourself? maybe going out to a movie and dinner, maybe getting a manicure or a pedicure or a haircut? maybe going and sitting outside in the shade for a while on a blanket and reading or journaling or looking at magazines?
sending you positive vibes regardless, Kristina

  3. As a fellow POAS addict, I feel your angst. If it were me, I'd resign myself to peeing every day from here on out because I have no self control. I think it's easier to take when POAS is an everyday sort of thing instead of a special one-time-only thing. And really, you're not that far away from getting a good, reliable result (though I'd be feeling pretty heartened by a 6dpo positive if it were me!)

I say, buy a couple of 3-packs & know that my fingers are crossed so very hard for you!

  4. Man... that's a tough one. I totally know about breaking down and testing even when you know it is too early. I did it every single cycle for 2 years. I got so sick of the horrible "not pregnant" sign that I wouldn't even let a HPT in my house for the IVF cycle. Sometimes I wonder if I should go get a test just so I can see what "pregnant" looks like.

Hang in there. It's so hard no matter what you do.

  5. Clearly, poas every day! :)

I still have the hpt's from October. My first positive was 11dpo and I tested the next 3 days also. Course, I had insane betas.

The waiting is the worst. I SO hope this is it for you!

  6. SO not helping, people! ;)

I think I'm going to wait it out, at least until I see Dr. Gorgeous at 10dpo. I know from Oct IVF that 2 Ovidrel can be out of my system by 10dpo (or possibly earlier). I just don't think I could handle a negative right now. Ugh. I mean, I only tested today to see if it was out of my system, but clearly I didn't think through that plan!!

  7. Sorry, I'm not going to help either - I'm in the camp of pee every day. ;-)

:hugs: May you be able to see Dr. Gorgeous with a smile this time...
