- I taught my last classes yesterday. They went out with a whimper, rather than a bang, but it's good to be done with them.
- My chair has not yet done my tenure letter...I thought it was supposed to be to the dean's office by Dec 15?! I am not worrying. I am not worrying. I really am not worrying. This is not on me, and my understanding is that any breach of protocol is potential grounds for a lawsuit if I don't get tenure. Not that I think in such terms.
- Speaking of which, BSC emailed me unexpectedly to see if I wanted to have lunch on Friday. Although I can think of about 1000 things I'd rather do than have lunch with her, I still think it's in my professional best interest to stay on her good side. So I'll do it.
- I seem to be on a committee that, once again, requires a significant investment of time over a holiday break. We've been partnered up to draft sections of a major document, and somehow I'm working with my chair. Now I do like him as far as chairs go, but, really? I'm the only untenured person (and only woman) and it's never occurred to him or anyone else that that might be somewhat awkward?
- Thankfully, we're not meeting as a committee next week, which is good because I'll be back and forth to Dr. Gorgeous's office pretty much daily (I have to say, I love that Dr. Gorgeous is compulsive and lets absolutely nothing slip through the cracks, but really, I'm so envious of some of the women whose blogs I read who've done IVF and get to skip 2 or even 3 days between monitoring appointments). I'm still thinking IUI for next Wed or Thurs.
- This is one of my favorite times of the year: the lull before student projects come in, in which I can read (oh, yes, I get paid to do that!) and write (what shall I do next?) and go to bed at 9:30 if I need to.
- The Headache is better, but I'm not pleased with how much medication I've taken to get rid of it. I'm hoping that now that I'm done with Femara I should be fine, at least for the next couple days until I start Ganirelix.
- If I keep it, my appt with Dr. Gorgeous for the Donor Egg Chat Part Deux is one week for today. I'm thinking of sending her an email outlining all my issues, just so she has a sense of what I'm thinking before she gets in the room and I hit her with "I want steroids and antibiotics and an endometrial function test and...."
- For my academic readers: as I plan my (new) courses for next semester, I am struggling to find that sweet spot between giving students what they need and not sacrificing my writing time. That's particularly challenging given that my courses are writing intensive and students require feedback. Any tricks I'm overlooking?
- And now, dear friends, I am going to write because I can. While I sit around waiting for the damn Fedex truck to bring me my Ganirelix. Sigh.
