I Think I Wrote This A Couple Weeks Ago

We've been awake for about 1.5 hours.

He's screaming upstairs.

I'm typing downstairs, having given up all pretense at going back to sleep.

I don't really think tonight's the night to start sleep training, as he still has a double ear infection.  But I can't take another minute of him sucking on me.  Or asking to suck on me.

I hadn't really seen the upside of LG's forced weaning before.  Oh, yay, silver lining.

  1. I guess I should be very thankful that my babies don't want to nurse when they are awake in the middle of the night. I can only imagine how incredibly difficult that must make it to sleep. Makes pacifier replacement seem great in comparison.

  2. Oh man... As someone whose all three kids ended up getting tubes for repeated ear infections (the third kid got two sets, the second with adenoidectomy), I deeply, deeply sympathize. Are you thinking about tubes? They were a lifesaver.

    Good luck!

  3. GMP...he had tube surgery ~3 weeks ago.

As with LG, doesn't seem to make a darn bit of difference...but at least he didn't end up seeing a cardiologist afterward...

  4. Okay, now something more constructive. With my third kid, the first set of tubes didn't do shit. Then nearly a year later after a world of pain and too much antibiotics for the poor guy, we switched doctors, he got a new set of tubes and had his adenoids removed. He's much, much better now, one ear has been perfect (knock on wood), the other would get infected on occasion but never nearly as bad as before. And this doctor (pediatric ENT) is much more proactive, he will see us every two weeks when an infection is accute, religiously such out junk of ears so drops can work, culture ear gunk as many times as needed to get some answers.

I always think that sooner or later their heads grow and the stupid Eustachian tubes are no longer horizontal and they no longer get stupid ear infections... I know how frustrating this all is...
I don't know what part of country you are in, but I am happy to tell you about my ENT via email in case you are not too far. geekmommyprof at gmail.com

    Hang in there!
