I'm thinking this really will be my last cycle with my own eggs. Nothing like a pathetic ultrasound to make it clear that no matter what cutting edge protocol Dr. Gorgeous throws my way, my body says eh, so what?
It's cd 8, and I've got follicles at 11, 12.5, and 7 (which may or may not do anything, I'm guessing not). The good (?) thing is that my lining is still very thin, which suggests a slow cycle, which gives me the smallest bit of hope that something else might pop up. But probably not.
My hunch is that Dr. Gorgeous will have me start Ganirelix tonight (though I'd prefer tomorrow) and come back on Monday, unless she's monitoring on Sunday for IVF.
You know, I really thought I might get 4-5 follicles out of this protocol. What an idiot.
Update: Apparently, I'm not able to predict everything that Dr. Gorgeous does. Because no, I'm not starting Ganirelix, but yes, she is dragging me back for monitoring in the morning. Really? With a 12? This can't wait until Monday? Grrrrr.
Gwinne, I will be keeping you in my thoughts. I just want this cycle to work for you. I wish we can control how our body response to meds.
ReplyDeleteHave you had this follicle situation a lot in the past - 2 maybe 3? With an IUI, I thought that was good and that they sometimes even stop the cycle if there are 4 or more. . .but I know you're very knowledgeable about your own cycles and what you're trying to do with Dr. G. From my perspective, for what it's worth, your follies are looking great! sending good wishes, Kristina
ReplyDeleteKristina, in the beginning of this process I would have been *thrilled* with a 2-3 follicle scenario, and yes, for many women that's an ideal for an IUI. But given that this is my last cycle, and I've had multiple failed cycles with 3 follicles, we were shooting for 4.
ReplyDeleteGwinne, as always, I appreciate your comments on my blog tremendously. You have such incredible knowledge of this entire process and I always appreciate your suggestions. It means so much to me that you are looking after me. As a SMC to be, it feels lonely at time going through this alone. You rock!!
ReplyDeleteOh, okay, Gwinne, that makes sense. I figured you had your reasons. well, I'll hope along with you that the slow cycle aspect is beneficial and more pop up or these 2-3 are the best damn eggs in the universe!
