Getting into the Groove

So it's probably not news to anyone who reads this blog regularly that the past few weeks my job hasn't been my top priority. Sure, I went to class, lectured and led discussion, met with students in office hours, responded to emails, stayed on top of the student organization that I sponsor, graded a stack of papers, commented on various in-class writing activities, etc, but my brain was mostly elsewhere. On injections and follicle growth and cell division...

So now that these embryos are comfortably in my uterus, I'm trying to get back to that other part of my job. The writing part. There's a grant proposal due at the end of the week that I *should* do but I've decided it's not worth the energy at this point. I need to send out a few manuscripts. I need to remember what it was I was doing about a month ago, before this whole IVF thing got started. And that's really hard under the influence. Of progesterone, that is: I'm alternating between 600 mg Prometrium and progesterone injections every other day. All I want to do is sleep. And eat. And that's all well and good but not at a moment that I actually have time to write and really need to write, when there's that whole tenure clock ticking away.

In the meantime, my cell phone voicemail has stopped working (it's telling me my security code is wrong) and my computer refuses to update its virus software, no matter how many times I try to do so manually. I don't feel like dealing with this glitchiness right now.

I guess I'll go have my blood drawn. Again.

  2. Ick...back to reality right? It's hard to focus when you have something so momentous and hormonal going on in your body! I have a syllabus to create this week and I can already hear the clock starting to tick in my head telling to get my behind in gear! Good luck with your writing!

  3. I hear you, sister! I start stims on Friday, and I'm super distracted. It's only going to get worse.
