I've got a blogotherapy post brewing, about this whole natural IUI, donor egg/embryo chat I'm supposed to have with Dr. Gorgeous next week. But I'm mostly trying to stay out of my head and just get things done.
Still tired. (Expecting the call with my P4 level in the next hour or so. [ETA: 47]) But oh my goodness glad that I don't need to take estrogen on top of progesterone this month.
I was sitting in a coffee shop yesterday and it occurred to me that I was happy. Not happy, like my life is exactly where I want it happy, but a small, contented this is a good day happy. And it occurred to me that most of my days lately have been those kinds of days. Which, all things considered, is great. That's why I'm really trying to stay out of my head.
My syllabi are done, except for those short readings for which I have multiple choices listed and I really need to just pick one and be done with it. My teaching philosophy statement is also in decent shape, considering I've got 12 days before the official deadline. I guess that leaves next week for all the phone calls related to being an adult (like, taking the car in for maintenance, getting an estimate on new windows for LG's room, having a tree ripped out of my backyard, etc.).
I'm not dreading going back to school, nor am I looking forward to it. It's just the thing that's happening that I will need to handle gracefully.
In a little bit, I'm going to go watch LG's camp performance and take her out for ice cream. And then, I'm going to rest.
Honestly, it sounds like a very nice day, and I think that keeping your head out of it makes a ton of sense. That feeling of content -- ok with where things are for the most part -- is really valuable and a good way of reminding us all that while some (many) things may suck a lot, some are also good. So here's to an oscar-worthy camp performance and more happy. Oh -- and a nap!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good place. That has got to be a good psychological state for enticing implantation...
ReplyDeleteI finished my syllabus, but the freaking reading list and figuring how to condense a few lectures is now the painful part... but I invited some great guest speakers, such as a genetic counselor. I have managed to put all kinds of stuff that fascinates me into this human bio class over the years. The fertility lecture is my favorite, and I consider it serious public service.
