Yes, no, yes, no

I. My Life at the Clinic

So last night I (a) wrote Dr. Gorgeous another letter and (b) in the process, talked myself into doing the IUI unless she felt strongly that I shouldn't proceed.

Then came the morning's scan:
lining: 10+ mm (mine's usually up to 12 by trigger time)
LO: 12 (or was it 13?), 14.5, 17.5

What I told the tech was that if Dr. Gorgeous thinks we can wait another day before triggering (take Ganirelix and more Follistim?) to get at least one of those two smaller ones closer to the mature range, I'd go for it. But, given the micropolyposis, I wouldn't use up my last specimen on a one-follicle cycle. At least I got to do the hysteroscopy, so this cycle isn't a total bust. But, damn, why can't this be easier? (And why don't my follicles grow at a normal rate?)

II. My Life Away from the Clinic

Grading, meeting, grading, dissertation defense, grading, meeting, grading, take LG for ice cream, grading...

At least I know with absolute certainty that by next Tuesday (a) my grades will be submitted and (b) I'll be on the downslide to my next cycle.

Update: Ganirelix + Follistim 150 IU + monitoring tomorrow = IUI #12 on Saturday? At least that's the Dr. Gorgeous approved plan. It's been a LONG week.

  1. I love that you are so proactive and regualarly email Dr G directly. That is an inspiring amount of control you are wresting away from the universe.

And yeah, I hate that nothing ever seems to work out on schedule. I find it maddening.

Good luck with grading and growing follicles.

  2. Yeah...the thing I like about her is that she lets me call the shots. The thing I don't like about her is that she lets me call the shots :)

I certainly wasn't this proactive when I was ttc for LG. I didn't know anything, and I was pretty low intervention. Then I had an RE I didn't trust and who refused to listen to me. Then I found Dr. G. It's really only been post-IVF that she's made it very clear that I can make decisions about my protocol, since I've done it *all* at this point. She gets gwinne-is-crazy veto power, though. Waiting for a phone call from her or the nurse...
