Hormone Levels Post-Transfer? (Updated)

I'll call Dr. G back tomorrow to get some clarification, but I was instructed today to up my estrace dose (to 8 mg/day). My E2 before (donor's) retrieval was 2100+ and today it was only 600 something. Progesterone is 50+ (despite the fact that I'm on half the dose I was originally supposed to take).

I know my hormone levels after my own IVF cycle were pretty much identical to this. All I was told was that she wants them as high as possible to encourage implantation. And I'm not clear on why my level would plummet (unless starting progesterone decreases e2 level?).

Guess it's a good thing that I'm taking Lovenox so I don't have a stroke :)

Updated, a day later: According to Nurse of the Everchanging Nickname, E2 levels often drop after transfer in cycles with good endings. Of course, she's also the one who told me I'd end up pregnant on the freaky bleeding/chemical pg/whatever episode in Dec 2009. So we take her ideas with more than a grain of salt. According to Dr. G, it might just be a normal fluctuation (or the fact that I didn't have it tested at her lab) but she's not chancing it. Rechecking, though, on Thursday.

  1. Interesting. Are there any studies that say that high hormone levels help/correlate with implantation? How are you feeling?

  2. I'm exhausted, but that's the progesterone. No symptoms from the estrogen as far as I can tell.

I'm not sure if the issue is that my level has dropped or if it really needs to be higher...

I've also had lining issues from excess estrogen, and I'm waiting to hear back if raising my dose is actually a good plan...

  3. Estrogen always made me feel giddy. It's supposed to drop after "ovulation". I hate that they track these things and make you stress over them when they don't even really know how relevant it is...
